I've used the EZ Grow kit from Homestead twice. Success both times. For $125 u get a rye bag w/ a spore QTip in it, seperated by a taped twist. Just untape to drop spore in the rye and shake. Never even open it- simple and no contamination. Then 3-6 weeks rye is all white. Break up and add to the 3 lb poo bag u get and fold, staple, fold staple. Both bags have HEPA filter for CO2 exchane, but maintain constant humidity, never even water. When u start harvesting the water will exhaust prior to poo, then u can add water if u want 2-3 more tiny flushes.
A refill (rye/spore bag and 5 lb vs 3 lb poo) is $85.
It's really good to start on, success is easy, which will encourage u to try more exotic TEK/strains.
Note- I am a terrible liar. I have delusions of growing mushrooms, but don't really. Please disregard my idiot rambling.

this is all so odd. in the 80's you could simply buy a "kit" to set on a flat surface, then you had shrooms...what happened?

Its because you used to be able to get kits with "LIVE MYCELIUM" you still can in some places.
The live mycelium removes the need to grow the spores, this process is very time consuming and sensitive..
So when the laws started changing it because illegal in the USA to sell kits with live mycelium.. thus forcing the kits to integrate a syringe and substrate method to get to the mycelium stage and making the kits harder and take longer.

You can still get them from hightimes. But they suck ass. For 180 bucks no less. And for a small amount and most likely nothing. Spend that 180 on some good equipment and some spores and then you will also have more control over the grow. A good waiste of time and money is all they are......

Yeah the homestead kits suck and are a rip off IMHO a compost bag from mushbox is way better if you ask me.

If you want a cheap easy kit Mycodome it is a incubator fruiting chanmber and a drying system. Buy the mini myg add on and the jars and all you need is spores. Everything is basicaly idiot proof with a litlle common sense and sterile practices.

yea, I will back this up, I've used EZ-Gro. I did get shrooms out of it, but it didn't work very well, for me anyway. Bottom line, tho, is you are gettin WAY overcharged for the stuff you are getting w/ the kit.

If you are going to do a compost bag I higly suggest LC. For the simple fact that a lot of newbs have a problem with them from multispore. Not that it doesn't work, but as usual, LC gives you a great advantage over the grow. You will need a PC however.....
